Rename Game

I thought I'd come up with a Blog Header that reflected our family a bit better. This fits a little too perfect, it is something said quite often to a 7 and 3 year old.

As I blogged tonight my mom read the kids a book. Dill loves to get his back scratched- it put him right to sleep.

Sumtimes Mean

Kasidee wrote me a letter today, it really sums things up! It read:

My mom is the best mom I ever had and she is sumtimes mean to me!!! and she gives me stuf and I think that she is the niceist mom I ever had. and she will be my mom forever and wen I have kids she will be speshle to me. Love Kasidee you'r dotter and I love you mommy.

I love that she is learning how to write, me and Derek get notes throughout the day- it is how Kasidee expresses herself. The notes are not always nice.

Happy Birthday Babe!

Derek turned 27 last Friday and I just wanted to give him a little shout out!
Here's a couple reasons why I've stuck around for so long-
*Your a hotty!
*The best Mr.Mom
*You make me laugh so stinkin hard!
*Laid back (good thing because I'm so high strung)
*You don't pout when I beat the snot out of you in Guitar Hero (I ROCK)
*You also don't pout when I beat the snot out of you in HORSE (thanks for lowering the hoop so I can dunk)
LOVE YA BABE!
The video is a recap of why I didn't throw Derek a Surprise party and picture the crazy happy girl- well...me :)

Moab!!

We had a great trip with the kids this weekend! It was such nice weather!! The kids were so happy to roll around in dirt and climb rocks (made me a nervous wreck that they would fall off the edge of something!!) I'm just so grateful for the time we can spend with the kids and enjoy some of Utah's great attractions!

Dinner Tag

Okay mine takes little effort but alot of time to cook- I LOVE crockpot cooking!!!
So you put 3-5 boneless skinless chicken breasts in a crockpot, and about 1/4 cup water.(you can add 1 tsp. garlic powder) Then in a mixing bowl combine 1 pkg. cream cheese, 1 pkg.dry Italian Salad Dressing mix, and 1 can cream of chicken soup. Mix together then pour on top of chicken. Cook for 4-5 hours on high or 6-7 on low. Then when ready to eat cook egg noodles or rice whichever you prefer. Shred chicken with fork and pour chicken mix on top! YUMMERS!!

Are You SERIOUS??????

I have a problem- and admitting it is the first step. No-I wasn't deprived as a child that I feel the need to give my kids all that I didn't have. I just have a problem. I even had to put toys away in my closet because I had over bought- into the closet that has left over Christmas gifts.Opps. And I'm hoping that by admitting this -my other over shopper/closet hoarders girlfriends can step forward with their problem too (ALISA AND SUZIE). :) Speaking of hoarders, did anyone see Oprah this week? Please stop me before it gets that out of hand.

But seriously we had a great Easter! The kids remembered about 9:00 am that it was Easter and ran to see what they had gotten- Derek told them that the golf clubs were from him so they knew not to expect this kind of thing every year (even though they did get a trampoline last year) But who's keeping track (oh yeah my hubby is). We hit some great hunts and got all strung out on candy! Great family fun. Happy Easter All!!

Irish Fam

So Dereks family says they are Irish but I have yet to see them make Corned Beef and Cabbage! Even so we have quite the family tradition- the kids set out an old pair of shoes and the Leprachan makes them a new pair and fills it with green treats! And of course their amazing mother whips up a batch of green eggs and sausage (no ham :( )

Sin City

We had a fun trip to Las Vegas this past weekend with Dereks family. All of our husbands and some of the wives went to the Nascar race- and then me and my sister in-law (who did not go to any of the races) toted around 9-10 kids! I lost $40 bucks at the slots-I thought for sure I was going to win the big money :) But my kids had a great time and thats all that matters. Oh- and when we were coming home we ate at Cafe Rio in St.George and I ran into Jessica Davis who says she's going to be engaged Real Soon!

Soccer Star

Little Beckham?

Starting Feb.22nd and for the next 15+ years of my life my little man started sports!! Our kick-off was with soccer. That kid makes me smile from ear to ear. He was so funny, Dillon started off all gung-ho but then slowly got bored and discouraged. About halfway through the game he was doing tricks and silly things while all the other kids where chasing the ball. Dill’s a pouter like his dad when things don't go his way, with his head down and arms crossed he tells me "Mom, soccer is berry hard." It was definitely worth the $35 bucks just to get a picture of him in uniform!

Congratulations!

Just wanted to congratulate and thank our friends the Jones for letting us be apart of such an awesome event for their family! Mike and Alisa adopted Jessica(3) last August and were able to get sealed to her last weekend. Her big brother Christian(3) is very happy to have her- he alwasy introduces her as "what his parents brought home from Africa!" So funny- I think she is definently the best gift they've ever brought home from a trip! We love you guys!

Valentines

What a fun day, school was delayed for 2 hrs in the morning so we had a big breakfast-Pink Crepes w/ strawberries(Derek was off so it was even better). Brooke and Ella stopped by for a visit and Valentine exchange. And our "Fond of You" Fondue dinner went well! I don't think my kids have ever stayed that long at the table- I guess as long as you can stab and dip it's all good. They stayed long enough that me and Derek could ask them some fun questions-
Kasidee if the house was on fire and you could grab only one thing (not family we all were going to be safe) what you you get?
"If I had one, I would grab my pet because I love it so much and it is my favorite pet in the whole world."
That's our Kas the love of pets and drama all in one :)
Dillon how 'bout you what would you grab?
"My lion." A big 'ol lion that he could not possibly get safely out the door on his own.
Mom what would you get? "I would help Dillon get the lion so they could both make it out okay."
Next question-
Kasidee if you were stranded on a desert island what would be the one person/thing you would want with you?
"My pet, if I had one.But I don't so I guess nothing."
Wow, and yes I can take a hint. We are seriously considering getting that kid a dog.
Derek what/who would you want?
"Britt, for selfish reasons only."
Nice, I guess a mans got needs :)
Hope you all had a happy Valentines Day also!

Kids love Valentines too!!

I'm going to try and top last year. I admit it was a little last minute. I had to work late so Derek did everything! In the morning I left my kids cute invitations inviting them to a Valentine dinner. They were so excited Kasidee made plans to get all dressed up. We decorated the table all valentiney with candles of course, Derek made Manicotti and salad and homemade rolls in the shape of hearts. We had so much fun. This year I'm thinking fondue! And maybe some games too! Here's some pictures of last years Romantic Dinner- but seriously I love spending the night with the 3 people I love most!

Valentines Jokes and Riddles

They may be corny but it's Valentines and my kids got a kick out of them!

-Nothing, it shuts up.

What happens when you fall in love with a French chef?
-You get buttered up.

If your Aunt ran off to get married, what would you call her?
-Antelope.

It's all worth it!

Today I am a happy mom. After saying family prayers we tucked the kids in then me and Derek went downstairs. Of course Kasidee was doing her usual annoying "mom, ...Mom,....MOM, ....MOMMMMMMM" thing. And then we heard Dill go in and say "Sissy, dey can't hear you, do you need somesing? (not spelled wrong this is how he talks.) She dramatically says "I'm sssssoooo thirsty I need a cup of water." So he comes running down the stairs "Mom sissy is sooo firsty, she needs cups of water!!" He was so proud to run it up to her. Then they kissed and said how much they loved each other, and he said "Sleep good, sissy. Now be QUIET!."
But for a minute there they weren't yelling at each other or saying the other person is touching or bothering them. So yep, there comes a moment every now and then that makes it ALL worth it.

Happy Love Month

Things I love:
1. Family (of course)
2.Sugar Cookies-My altime favorite treat to eat, I'd much rather have sugar cookies than a birthday cake!
3.Mondays-I have my mom to myself on Mondays!! We go to lunch, run errands, and take naps!
4.Naps- I've learned the cleaning can wait, I love to cuddle up with my little guy!
5.Snowstorms- As a kid I hope'd they would cancel school, and as a mom I hope they'll cancel school :)
