Soccer Star

Little Beckham?

Starting Feb.22nd and for the next 15+ years of my life my little man started sports!! Our kick-off was with soccer. That kid makes me smile from ear to ear. He was so funny, Dillon started off all gung-ho but then slowly got bored and discouraged. About halfway through the game he was doing tricks and silly things while all the other kids where chasing the ball. Dill’s a pouter like his dad when things don't go his way, with his head down and arms crossed he tells me "Mom, soccer is berry hard." It was definitely worth the $35 bucks just to get a picture of him in uniform!

Congratulations!

Just wanted to congratulate and thank our friends the Jones for letting us be apart of such an awesome event for their family! Mike and Alisa adopted Jessica(3) last August and were able to get sealed to her last weekend. Her big brother Christian(3) is very happy to have her- he alwasy introduces her as "what his parents brought home from Africa!" So funny- I think she is definently the best gift they've ever brought home from a trip! We love you guys!

Valentines

What a fun day, school was delayed for 2 hrs in the morning so we had a big breakfast-Pink Crepes w/ strawberries(Derek was off so it was even better). Brooke and Ella stopped by for a visit and Valentine exchange. And our "Fond of You" Fondue dinner went well! I don't think my kids have ever stayed that long at the table- I guess as long as you can stab and dip it's all good. They stayed long enough that me and Derek could ask them some fun questions-
Kasidee if the house was on fire and you could grab only one thing (not family we all were going to be safe) what you you get?
"If I had one, I would grab my pet because I love it so much and it is my favorite pet in the whole world."
That's our Kas the love of pets and drama all in one :)
Dillon how 'bout you what would you grab?
"My lion." A big 'ol lion that he could not possibly get safely out the door on his own.
Mom what would you get? "I would help Dillon get the lion so they could both make it out okay."
Next question-
Kasidee if you were stranded on a desert island what would be the one person/thing you would want with you?
"My pet, if I had one.But I don't so I guess nothing."
Wow, and yes I can take a hint. We are seriously considering getting that kid a dog.
Derek what/who would you want?
"Britt, for selfish reasons only."
Nice, I guess a mans got needs :)
Hope you all had a happy Valentines Day also!

Kids love Valentines too!!

I'm going to try and top last year. I admit it was a little last minute. I had to work late so Derek did everything! In the morning I left my kids cute invitations inviting them to a Valentine dinner. They were so excited Kasidee made plans to get all dressed up. We decorated the table all valentiney with candles of course, Derek made Manicotti and salad and homemade rolls in the shape of hearts. We had so much fun. This year I'm thinking fondue! And maybe some games too! Here's some pictures of last years Romantic Dinner- but seriously I love spending the night with the 3 people I love most!

Today I am a happy mom. After saying family prayers we tucked the kids in then me and Derek went downstairs. Of course Kasidee was doing her usual annoying "mom, ...Mom,....MOM, ....MOMMMMMMM" thing. And then we heard Dill go in and say "Sissy, dey can't hear you, do you need somesing? (not spelled wrong this is how he talks.) She dramatically says "I'm sssssoooo thirsty I need a cup of water." So he comes running down the stairs "Mom sissy is sooo firsty, she needs cups of water!!" He was so proud to run it up to her. Then they kissed and said how much they loved each other, and he said "Sleep good, sissy. Now be QUIET!."
But for a minute there they weren't yelling at each other or saying the other person is touching or bothering them. So yep, there comes a moment every now and then that makes it ALL worth it.

Cutest Missionary

Mandy is serving a Mission in Spokane Washington- we miss her so much! We are so proud of her and the choices she is making though. She'll be home the end of November and we are counting down the days. Mandi and her companion went to heart attack a memberand they rang the doorbell and hid. Well the guy who answered went and got a gun! So Mandi came out of the bushes and said "It's the Missionairies don't shoot!" it could only happen to Mandi! Oh and she wants letters!!

Britt and Derek

Life is busy as usual. Making time for it all can get a little tiring. But I'm lucky to have such an outgoing husband. He can even do Kasidee's hair if I need him too. Derek is working for Dan's Foods still, and plays basketball in his free time. I'm still working at Elementz in Draper but we think mid March I should be all ready to work from home. I'm so lucky to have such a talented father-in-law and husband. They have finished my basement all on their own and it looks so good! I can't wait to have a little extra time with the fam. We took a trip to Cancun, Mexico with my family in October. Now we can't wait for the next trip but I would definitely take the kids the next time. We did have a blast and it was so beautiful there -we went snorkeling and saw some fish and a sting ray! We also went on an ATV ride through the jungle. And saw some Mayan Ruins. But the whole time I kept thinking how my kids would have loved it too!!

Dillon

What a nut! This kids really keeps us on our toes. I'd have to say I am really enjoying my time with Dill- we have lots of alone time while Kas is at school and D working. He says his favorite thing to do with me is cooking. Both my kids love to be in the kitchen but I've relaxed a little with Dill and actually let him help. Dillon is such a lovey little boy he is always giving me kisses! And just like his older sister he LOVES to get his back scratched. Of course I think my kids are extra smart-but he really is! He plays computer games and can sound out letters to spell words- He is 3!! All day long he is telling me the sounds letters make and pointing them out. His favorite movie right now is Scooby Doo! And enjoys playing with ninja turtles- Derek and Dill act out the fighting scenes (Derek usually ends up getting hurt). His favorite thing to say right now is -"Thats gonna hurt when I pee." Oh boys!!

Kasidee

Kasidee is a busy little body! She is in 1st grade. Me and Derek can hardly believe how fast she has grown- we are going to blink and then she'll be sixteen -ahh! Kasidee is a little smarty pants- she does well in school- she is in a high reading level and has gotten 1oo% on her spelling tests for the past 3 months!! In December Kasidee received the principals award for Caring. This is my favorite trait in Kasidee, she is such a fun-loving girl. She is always taking care of others. Which probably explains why she has such an easy time making friends. We went to lunch with some friends and when it came time to eat the kids said they wanted to sit by Kas, so she told them "Don't worry there is plenty of room for everyone!". She makes us laugh!! Dillon was blowing bubble gum bubbles (which was his tongue because he can't really do it.) and Kas says- "What a big bubble!! Good job!" And then proceeded to pop the pretend bubble with her finger. Wow kids are fun!!! She is also taking Dance from her aunt and Grandma on Tuesdays then later that evening has tumbling. After school activities are hard this year because her elementary school is getting rebuilt(which is Heartland Elementary!).So the bus comes at 8:50am and ships them up to Cottonwood Heights then she comes home around 4:30pm. Dillon really misses her during the day, and then as soon as she walks in the door she's asking to leave to a friends house. Maybe next year we'll see her :)

New Baby Cousin!!!

The kids are so excited, sweet little Ella Grace Christen was born January 24th!! She is so cute- I personally think she looks like Mandi! Those cute chubby round cheeks and dark brown hair. Her mommy is doing so good- Brooke is way more prepared for this than I have been for 3 kids and will be for another one!! She was definently made to be a mom- it looks good on her.
She weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. Short and Stout couldn't be cuter!
